About Me

I grew up a child in the eighties in suburban Brisbane, where playing with other kids in your street meant making mud pies, building cubbies in the back yard and making perfume for your mum out of flower petals and pond water (why she never used it was beyond me!) We grew up in a world full of imagination, of camping trips to the beach, excursions to the planetarium and school assignments with the help of Encyclopaedia Britannica. And then came along technology.

I remember our first computer. It was huge! I used to play ‘Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego’ with the Dot Matrix graphics – aqua and pink I think were the colours. I remember when Mum and Dad bought their first CD player, their first mobile phone (it looked like a brick!) – and last year my brother and sister and I surprised Dad with an iPod for his 60th Birthday! He couldn’t believe it.

But through all this, we have still maintained a love for the outdoors, and for me it is one of my great passions. I find the outdoors so powerful and mysterious and with this comes a great respect for all that they are and all that they offer.

And so The Jolly was born… a way to share my passion for the outdoors and for all things fun! So who knows where this might lead, but for now I’m enjoying the journey – if you’re looking for something interesting to do in and around Brisbane, have a look on The Jolly – you just mind find your inner child!
